TESSA WORKS
Tessa is a Brooklyn raised theater artist with a deep love for physical, ensemble-driven storytelling and equitable, joyful collaborations. Her primary work over the last decade has been as a performer, but she is building a collage that includes writing, directing, and devising. She has performed with various companies, as far away as South Africa and as near as Central Park. As a director, Tessa mainly works on pieces she co-wrote or devised, such as “Baby Goes Down,” written with Nora Kaye. She has worked as a teaching artist in NYC and Boston. Film includes work with NIA Productions and Ben Haven Taylor. Her first (somewhat) solo piece, “How To Wake Up!” premiered at The Brick in 2021.

TESSA PLAYS
Tessa creates with the delicious, grotesque elements of humanity in mind, and often plays with food. She believes in process over product. If she could, she would be eating a nectarine. If she could, she would be swimming. Sometimes she is eating a nectarine and sometimes she is swimming. Always, she is listening and looking for the small miracles of life.

TESSA CREATES!
Tessa Creates! Is a project focused on physical manifestations of intimacy, ritual, and joy. Though it has (and will continue to) take multiple forms; right now it is a return to an early passion: jewelry. Find the new collection here!
